DANNY GEE

DESIGN EXECUTIVE

I'm a very lucky person.  I've been very fortunate in my career to have worked with a great number of talented and inspiring people.  From the innovative factory owner, to the enthusiastic mill technician, to talented pattern makers; it's the face-to-face interactions with these global creative partners that have shaped my knowledge and creativity.  It always comes down to the people.

My professional experiences include a range of companies, from small start-ups to the largest established corporations and everything in between.  All have presented their own unique opportunities and learning.  It is in the challenges that I have grown and benefitted the most.  One learns to be resourceful when there's a lack of resources, to do whatever is necessary to achieve the goals. I have a very entrepreneurial spirit and that has been my driver in every position I have had. It's wonderfully satisfying to create processes and add structure to an organization where there once was nothing, or build upon accepted practices with new ideas for improvement and nurture a team to success.

My concept to consumer hands-on experience includes every step of the full product life cycle; from color stories, sourcing of fabric and fibers, designing and merchandising the line, sourcing factories, fittings, to sales and merchandising presentations.  This clear understanding of how intimately linked each element is provides me with a big picture view that allows me to leverage this knowledge and work efficiently and intelligently from inception to completion.

Design is my passion.  I once heard, a true designer can design anything, from a chair to a building. I'm a believer of this.  Whether it's designing an elegant evening collection dress or the ultimate work sock; the satisfaction for me is in the research, gaining new knowledge, and ultimately delivering good design.
